NEW CLASS LAUNCH! California Leaves of Absence

When:  Jan 28, 2026 from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM (MT)

Navigating California’s leave-of-absence laws requires more than policy knowledge; it demands strategic understanding and confident application. In this course, learners will explore the foundational elements of California’s LOA landscape, including paid sick leave, the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and pregnancy disability leave. Through real-world case studies and interactive activities, participants will examine employer responsibilities, employee rights, and the interplay between state and federal regulations. Whether new to HR or a seasoned compliance professional, learners will leave with practical tools to manage leave scenarios effectively and lawfully.

Outcomes:

  • Identify key types of leave in California and the agencies responsible for their enforcement.

  • Explain eligibility, accrual, and notice requirements for paid sick leave and CFRA.

  • Compare CFRA and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and describe how pregnancy disability leave interacts with other leave types.

  • Apply compliance strategies to less common leave scenarios, such as bereavement, reproductive loss, and military leave.

  • Demonstrate understanding of employer obligations through case-based activities and knowledge checks.
