As it began accepting charges under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) on June 27, 2023, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released new educational resources.

The PWFA requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to employees and applicants affected by pregnancy, childbirth, or related conditions. This recent Employers Council article includes examples of accommodations, explains employer requirements, and includes links to helpful resources.

The new EEOC resources include a “Know Your Rights” video series and a revised “Know Your Rights” posterfor workplaces. Previously released was an informational poster about the PWFA for health care providers’ offices

The PWFA is one of several laws protecting pregnant and lactating women in the workplace. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Employers Council
