Government Toolkit Offers Important Information on Unions for Employers

A recent Gallup poll tells us that 71% of Americans view labor unions favorably, the highest level since 1965. Amid the growing support for labor unions by the public and the White House, it is vital for employers to understand the laws surrounding the rights of workers to organize.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and multiple federal agencies, including the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), have partnered to create an online toolkit that includes helpful information for employers regarding unions. The information includes links to resources explaining the rights and obligations of employers. One link, Employer/Union Rights and Obligations, gives examples of employer and labor organization conduct that violates the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

Employers Council’s Labor Relations team can provide you with legal consultation and representation on labor-relations matters, including contract negotiations, unfair labor practice charges, and arbitration. You can also learn more by reading our online resources. If you need assistance or have any questions, email LR@employerscouncil.org.
