California Employees Can Now Submit Wage Claims Online – Including Uploading Copies of Paychecks and Paystubs

On December 10, 2021, the California Labor Commissioner’s Office created an online application to file wage claims for California workers. Workers can create an account to file their wage claims for various types of wage theft, such as failure to pay minimum wage, pay earned commissions, accrue or use paid sick leave, pay final wages on time, reimburse business expenses, provide timely access to personnel files and payroll records, and more. The online process also allows workers to upload documents, such as copies of paychecks, paystubs, and bounced checks.

Despite this new online method of filing wage claims, workers can still file claims in person, by mail, fax or email. Given this new avenue for California employees to file wage claims, California employers should self-audit their California wage and hour practices. The California Legal Services team at Employers Council can assist with this audit. Please reach out to us at CAInfo@employerscouncil.org for more information.
