Survey News: What Are You Paying Your Summer Interns?

By Cory Martin posted 04-15-2022 10:02 AM

Employers Council has conducted an annual study to collect starting pay rates for Student/Summer Interns since 2003. What began as a small study for strictly manufacturers has grown into a multi-industry report that displays the starting rate of pay for technical and administrative summer interns. The 2022 edition of the study includes responses from 30 organizations. Out of those 30 respondents, one organization stated their internships had been suspended due to COVID-19. Nineteen of the responding organizations are currently offering paid summer internships. Technical hires include engineering, computer science, and mathematics. Administrative hires include human resources, finance, and information systems.

In 2022, all starting rates for Technical and Administrative interns are higher than what was reported in last year’s study.

The results of this study are available on the “Survey Results” page of the Employers Council website under “Student/Summer Interns.”  Data is also displayed by Manufacturing, Non-Manufacturing, and Government Industry Types.

If you would like to obtain a copy of the results of this study, there may be a fee of $300 assessed dependent upon your organization’s participation in the study or Employers Council membership level. Please call or email for more information.
