The deadline for employers’ second-quarter premiums and wage reports under Colorado’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI) is July 31, 2023.
The one-month grace period granted by the state for the first quarter was a one-time extension. Employers that miss the July 31 deadline and quarterly deadlines after that will face late fees plus interest charges on missing payments. For employers with fewer than 10 employees, the penalty is set at $25 per employee whose wages are not reported, and for employers with 10 or more employees, it is $50 per employee whose wages are not reported. The interest rate is 0.67%.
FAMLI is a state-run leave program that employers began funding on January 1, 2023, and will provide benefits to employees beginning on January 1, 2024. Employers can refer to the state’s My FAMLI+ Employer online resources to learn more about their obligations and the process of paying premiums and submitting wage reports. Employers Council also offers an extensive library of FAMLI resources. If you have any questions, please contact our Member Experience Team.
