EEOC Updates Antidiscrimination Poster to Assist Employees Filing Charges

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently released its updated antidiscrimination poster, titled “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal.” As the EEOC website says:

“The law requires an employer to post a notice describing the Federal laws prohibiting job discrimination based on race, color, sex (including pregnancy and related conditions, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, religion, age (40 and older), equal pay, disability or genetic information (including family medical history or genetic tests or services), and retaliation for filing a charge, reasonably opposing discrimination, or participating in a discrimination lawsuit, investigation, or proceeding.”  Employers should understand that while they must post a notice, they are not required to post the EEOC’s notice.

The EEOC notice, updated October 19, 2022, is free and easy to download from the website. Employers should note that it includes a QR code, providing employees with fast digital access to the webpage detailing how to file a charge. Employers wanting a different source for antidiscrimination and other required postings can get theirs from Employers Council. Contact us at info@employerscouncil.org.
