The EEOC issued the following information on its website on January 12, 2022, and employers should know this before filing their EEO reports:

The 2021 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection is tentatively scheduled to open on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. The tentative deadline to file the 2021 EEO-1 Component 1 Report is Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Updates regarding the 2021 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection will be posted to www.EEOCdata.org/eeo1 as they become available.

The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory annual data collection that requires all private-sector employers with 100 or more employees and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria to submit demographic workforce data, including race/ethnicity, sex, and job categories.

As part of their continuing efforts to modernize the agency’s data collections and improve the quality of data collected, the EEOC is discontinuing the EEO-1 Component 1 Type 6 Establishment List Report (Type 6 Report) for reporting establishments with fewer than 50 employees. Instead, all filers reporting data for establishments with fewer than 50 employees must use a Type 8 Establishment Report (Type 8 Report).
